Dear Community Partner,

 

Prior to starting West Atco Youth in Action, Inc. approximately 50% of the elementary school children in our community were classified as performing below normal standards. This was unacceptable.

 

We understood that poor performance at this stage in their academic careers would lessen the chance for success in high school, could prevent them from going on to college, and ultimately, would diminsh their career and earning potential as adults.

                There Was a Solution and We Found It!

 

West Atco Youth In Action, Inc. was established in 1990 as a local 501©(3) non-profit community based organization, with the sole purpose of increasing academic standards for children in the greater South Jersey area who might not otherwise receive the support that they need. We believe that by instilling and developing self-discipline, respect, and focus, our children can and will find success in all areas of their lives.

 

                Why Support West Atco Youth in Action?

 

Our mission is to provide quality educational programs, that excite children about learning. In 2002 we opened the West Atco Learning and Resource Center to provide high-quality and structured after-school programs for the youth of West Atco and the greater South Jersey area. At the Resouce Center children have access to academic and athletic programs that challenge them to succeed.

 

Our innovative approach to tying academic achievement with Martial Arts has been revolutionary. Our anchor program, "Achieving Academic Excellence through Martial Arts" focuses on developing discipline, focus, and respect. We teach these core characteristics and have found that our students are able to apply the concepts in and out of school.

 

In addition, we provide a variety of support services for our elementary, middle, and high school students. Our volunteers are comprised of local, retired educators that are committed to the complete and total success of our students.

We have had great success with the children that we serve and with your support we will be able to reach even more. 

 

 

             How You Can Help.

 

We are a volunteer based organization and welcome support from the community. There are a number of opportunities to volunteer your time and talent. Please complete the volunteer form and a member of our staff will reach out to you to discuss specific needs.

 

We also accept monetary donations and sponsorships, which are all tax-deductible. All monies collected are used on programming and events for our youth. Donations are not used for staff salaries or benefits.

 

Our youth are our future and we must make significant investments in them in order for them to become the productive citizens that we know they can be.
